APOA, CPOPC and Solidaridad came together to strengthen Palm Oil Sustainability
In a landmark move for the global edible oil sector, the Asian Palm Oil Alliance (APOA), the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), and Solidaridad have signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen producer–consumer collaboration and accelerate sustainability across the palm oil value chain, with a special focus on India and South Asia.

The MoU establishes a formal platform to harmonise approaches, strengthen smallholder inclusion, and build resilience against price volatility and supply disruptions. With CPOPC as the advocate for sustainable production, APOA as the voice of consumer markets, and Solidaridad as the technical partner, the collaboration will align national sustainability frameworks (ISPO, MSPO, IPOS), promote regenerative practices, and scale traceability solutions such as Solidaridad’s SoliTrace tool.

A Joint Working Group, co-chaired by APOA and CPOPC with Solidaridad as Technical Secretariat, will guide implementation, ensuring progress on market stability, sustainability inclusion, and policy coherence. This tripartite initiative is set to create stronger confidence in palm oil markets, ensuring affordable supply for over 1.5 billion consumers in South Asia while advancing sustainability, inclusion, and resilience across the value chain.
